Iranian short ‘A Narration of a Funeral’ has made its way to the Academy Award-qualifying Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) in South Africa.

The Iranian Youth Cinema Society reported that ‘A Narration of a Funeral’ will compete in the 43rd edition of DIFF.

‘A Narration of a Funeral’, written and directed by Amir Sedqi, is about a woman named Tara who has received an unexpected phone call from the hospital after the funeral of her mother who has died from COVID-19.

The film previously took part in the Riverside International Film Festival, and the National Film Festival for Talented Youth, both in the United States.

Earlier reports said Iranian film ‘The Savior’ will also take part in DIFF.

The Durban International Film Festival “fulfills a facilitative function as a promoter of the film industry, creating networking and cultural exchange platforms”, according to the event’s website.

The upcoming edition of the festival will take place on July 21-30.
